https://www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/james-brokenshire-mp-grant-maimuna-jawo-asylum-to-endfgm-women-who-flee-fgm-must-be-protected

Maimuna is a member of a hereditary caste of 'cutters' - women who carry out FGM.  A few years ago she fled Gambia to escape being forced to become a cutter and courageously spoke out against the practice :

She has already herself experienced detention and is at risk of removal to Gambia, where she and her family would be in danger.
