'A young Welsh American family is being torn apart by controversial immigration rules with the mother and her 18-month-old baby being forced to leave Britain and fly across the Atlantic today while her teacher husband stays in Wales.
'Gower College lecturer Matthew Pudner, 35, of Skewen, Neath, met his librarian wife Molly, originally from California, while both worked in New York.
'When their son Solomon was born 18 months ago their decided to re-locate to Wales so Solomon would have close access to Matthew’s family and last September both quit their jobs to start a new life in Neath.
'But because the couple did not have jobs on arrival in the UK and did not have the required savings in the bank, Mrs Pudner was denied a spousal visa and only allowed to stay for six months which is up today...'
