Ankara Agreement - Turkish Nationals

Quite a few BritCits members have a Turkish partner and hence may find it beneficial to check out the application of the Ankara Agreement on their family.

In very simple terms, Ankara Agreement allows Turkish nationals who have been working in the UK for four years to apply for ILR.   It occurred to me that this could potentially be of use to those Turkish nationals here on a spouse visa, who may be able to apply for ILR a year earlier than standard, because of this agreement.

While I haven't been able to t find anything concrete to confirm that a Turkish national on a spouse visa working for four years can also make use of this agreement, a barrister did offer to look into it for me (thanks Rajiv Sharma) and it seems there is indeed scope for Turkish spouses of British citizens/residents may indeed be able to accelerate their ILR.

If this is of interest to you, please do your own research and seek good quality legal advice where needed.
