Facts are sacred: Family visa applicants are taxpayers too!

Spotted on Facebook. The facts speak for themselves.

"Since the introduction of the five year rule British Citizens now have to pay £3140 (in 5 installments) for a visa so their spouse can remain in the UK if the spouse is from a non-EU country.

It should cost only £556 to process. An EU Citizen only pays £55 and it is not a requirement. This is before the Naturalisation fees which are £906 plus the examination fees and study materials for the life in the UK test (ed: and legal fees).

The 5 payment installment stages are :-
1-Initial entry visa to get married (normally fiance visa)
2-Leave to Remain visa after getting married
3-Biometrics fee after application received
4-Further Leave to Remain visa at 2.5 year stage
5-Indefinite Leave to Remain visa at 5 year stage optional
6- Naturalisation to become British Citizen"
