The lies that prop up the family immigration rules.

'In the reams written on the Family Immigration rule changes of July 2012 (a fair proportion of which appears on this website), there have been a number of lies exposed. We thought it might be of service to our readers to provide a little piece with most of them lined up for inspection. Obviously we’re not going to get every single lie and you’re welcome to add to our little list in the comments below, but this is for starters...

'... Again, a quote from Theresa May in the introduction to the consultation document on these rules. Try telling that to Andy and Molly and their 2 young boys who lost a year of their marriage to the rules, to Richard and Kate, to Lizzie and Alexander and their one year old daughter, to Kev and Barbara, to Megan and Max, to Del and Valery, to Katie and Cliff and to Stacey and Yoshi all couples who made the grave error of being born in different places deemed unacceptable by the UK’s Government.

'Tell these people they have no legitimate right to be together in the UK, tell them to their faces. Because that’s not what Theresa May or her Home Office staff do, they keep things abstract, they keep things impersonal, they don’t comment on individual cases. They avoid the question of love, of family life and concentrate on the financial side of things. They tell glib lies to justify their pursuit, by any means at their disposal, of lower immigration statistics. They make a claim for ‘fair but robust’ policies. They split up in real life, real loving families.

'To achieve that, they lie.'
