Hope Not Hate wants every MP to say where they stand on Home Office harassment of migrants.

Hope Not Hate, is calling on every MP in the country to say where he or she stands on the recent Border Agency poster van and identity check activities which hit the headlines last week.
In a message to HNH supporters across the country, the campaign's director Nick Lowles described the measures as "cheap and cynical stunts to make it appear they are acting tough on illegal immigrants".
He said that, while it is not surprising that the Government is defending these activities it is important that every MP should state where they stand. "They are there to represent us", he said, and they should feel pressure from members of the public who deplore the effect they are having on community relations.
HNH has drafted a letter which people can use to send to their local MPs asking them to say where they stand on this issue. The letter can be viewed here.

Refugees fleeing persecution in their home country cannot afford to be scrupulous about the means by which they reach sanctuary in another country. This truism was recognised by the drafters of the Refugee Convention: Article 31 affords refugees protection from prosecution for unlawful entry to a sanctuary state providing certain conditions are met.
